First-Rate Therapy Space for Children with Special Needs
Recent studies show that 1 in 68 children has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. This ranges from mild communication and social skills deficits to severe motor and sensory dysfunction. Researchers say the younger the child’s brain is, the more malleable it is, making it easier to help the child avoid long-term developmental disabilities with the help of therapy. In the past two years, insurance companies have better recognized this disorder and allowed treatment to be covered. However, the covered duration of treatment is minimal.
Little Arrows Play Café will host a Sensory Area that will be available to families with special-needs children and allow parents to continue the program established by the therapist in an optimal environment. The Sensory Area at LAPC will allow families to bring their special-needs children to play and work through therapy practices while their siblings play safely with age-appropriate toys in the play café area.
We also intend to use Little Arrows Play Café as a place for adult studies and programming for low-income families to take GED classes, Nutrition and Wellness classes, Budgeting classes, State ID assistance and other offerings that will be beneficial to the community. LAPC will host the classes while providing free childcare for children of students.
